Aurora Pryor, MD

Aurora Pryor is originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan. She moved to North Carolina to attend Duke University where she completed a dual degree in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering.
She continued her education at Duke, receiving her medical degree, surgical residency, and an Advanced Fellowship in Laparoscopic Surgery.
Since joining the faculty at Duke in 2003, Dr. Pryor has focused on minimally invasive surgery, with an emphasis on novel techniques. Her practice includes foregut, weight loss, colon, and gastrointestinal (GI) surgery in general.
In her bariatric practice, she offers gastric bypass, gastric banding, sleeve gastrectomy, and revisional surgery. Most of these are performed laparoscopically. She also performs endoscopic procedures.
Her roles at Duke include division chief of general surgery at Durham Regional Hospital, co-director of the Metabolic and Weight Loss Surgery Program, associate program director of the Duke General Surgery Residency Program, and medical director of the Surgical Education and Activities Lab (SEAL).
