Mr. Edward Peterson is the President and CEO of AcuFocus, Inc., which is currently in FDA clinical trials for a device to improve the depth of focus in people who are presbyopic. Presbyopia, the loss of near vision, is a visual condition that affects an estimated 250 million people World Wide. Until now, the most common presbyopic treatments have been reading glasses, mono-vision contact lenses or mono-vision LASIK.

Mr. Peterson began his esteemed ophthalmic career over 26 years ago with industry icons Cooper Vision and Alcon. Most recently, he was Vice President of Business Development for the Innovation Factory, an incubator company for new and emerging technologies. Additionally, Mr. Peterson serves on the Board of Aquesys and the Innovation Factory, and he is a venture partner with Acuity Medical.

AcuFocus has developed a treatment for presbyopia using an ultra-thin corneal inlay. It is designed to be used under a LASIK flap created with either a Fremtosecond Laser or microkeratome or inserted intra-stromally in a corneal pocket. The procedure may be done concurrently with LASIK or stand-alone.
