Mitchell Dann has spent over 25 years working with medical technology start-ups, serving as a venture capitalist, advisor, entrepreneur and executive. Mitchell founded Sapient Capital, L.P. and is Principal of Sapient Capital Management, L.L.C., the management company for the fund. In addition, he currently serves as Chairman of the Board of ValenTx, Inc. and Urologix, Inc. (NASDAQ: ULGX) and on the Board of Directors of Hemosphere, Inc. and TranS1, Inc., (NASDAQ: TSON).
Sapient Capital’s investments have also included, Cryovascular Systems, Inc. (acquired by Boston Scientific), Hansen Medical, Inc. (NASDAQ: HNSN) and Mitralife, Inc. (acquired by eV3).
Prior to forming Sapient Capital, Mitch was an independent consultant, providing strategic and management services to early stage medical technology companies. In 1982, he began his career at Investment Advisers, Inc. where he formed their venture capital business, IAI Venture Capital Group and served as Managing Partner.
Mitch is a founder of two companies and has been responsible for investments in over 30 companies, including Endotherapeutics, Inc., inventor of the single use safety trocar (acquired by US Surgical Corporation, and now part of Covidien, plc).
He received a Bachelor in Science degree in Engineering from the University of Vermont
