Ashley McEvoy is Executive Vice President, Worldwide Chairman, Medical Device, Johnson & Johnson and a member of the Executive Committee. In her role, Ashley leads the surgery, orthopaedics, interventional solutions and eye health businesses, which generate approximately $27B in revenue. The Medical Device sector employees 70,000 associates across Ethicon, DePuy Synthes, Biosense Webster, and Johnson & Johnson Vision.
Ashley has been with Johnson & Johnson for more than 20 years and has served in leadership roles in Consumer and Medical Devices. She is a Credo-based leader who has delivered above-market performance for all four multi-billion-dollar, global companies she has led, and she is particularly adept at designing turnaround strategies for mission-critical businesses.
In 2006, Ashley co-led the integration of Pfizer Consumer Healthcare into McNeil, the largest acquisition Johnson & Johnson had done to date. She delivered above-market results for the company’s global over-the-counter business, while advancing patient access through key innovations like the first-of-its-kind switch of Zyrtec to OTC status. In 2009, as the Worldwide President of Ethicon, Ashley ran the global wound management business and grew leadership share in sutures and hernia care while advancing key innovations. She is a multifaceted leader, at home in operating rooms around the world, successful in leading consumer-facing brands and a proven architect of creating winning teams, strong innovation pipelines and future-forward business models.
In her most recent role as Company Group Chairman for Johnson & Johnson Vision and a member of the Management Committee, Ashley and her team redefined Johnson & Johnson’s position in Eye Health, one of the largest and most underserved need areas in health care today. Ashley prioritized business transformation through digital technology, delivering world-class patient experiences in both online and offline environments. Under her leadership, the Vision team consistently delivered above-market growth, and established a robust cadence of product innovation while developing new business models to meet changing market needs.
Ashley is the executive sponsor of the Open & Out employee resource group which supports the LGBTQ community globally. Under her leadership, this group has advanced Johnson & Johnson’s goal of having its workforce reflect the populations it serves, and created educational materials to improve understanding and create safe, inclusive work environments, and earning accolades from multiple external organizations.
Ashley’s accomplishments have been recognized by numerous business and philanthropic organizations and she was named a “2012 Working Mother of the Year” by Working Mother Magazine.
