Joe is a senior manager in RSM’s Minneapolis state and local tax (SALT) practice and regional co-lead of the firm’s digital goods and services practice. He provides clients with strategic state and local tax planning for various state tax matters, including income, franchise, credits and incentives, sales and use, and other transaction-based matters. His expertise includes state income tax and sales/use tax audit defense and appeal representation, managing reverse income tax audits to identify and implement refund opportunities, multistate transaction structuring and planning, due diligence related to acquisitions and dispositions, managing the state income tax compliance process for complex multinational corporations and individual income tax residency. Joe regularly advises clients on unitary issues, business/nonbusiness income determinations, nexus studies and voluntary disclosure agreements, and payroll taxes, and has presented on a variety of these state and local tax topics.
