Outset Medical Sets Out To Upend Dialysis

Leslie Trigg didn’t design her Medtech career, but her pursuit of the right opportunities led her to a series of wildly successful start-ups including her recent venture, Outset Medical, creator of an innovative new dialysis system. The first-time CEO recognized Outset’s potential as it seeks to bring change to an industry that has remained the same for decades. In this podcast, Trigg shares her early thoughts about Outset’s potential and what she’s learned along the way. Trigg also takes the time to share some insights on what makes being a Medtech leader most meaningful.

Outset Medical

Before becoming Outset’s President and CEO, Leslie was the company’s Chief Operating Officer and also served as an Executive-in-Residence at Warburg Pincus. Prior to Outset, she was Executive Vice President at Lutonix. Before joining Lutonix, Leslie served as Chief Business Officer of AccessClosure. Earlier in her career, she was Vice President, Marketing for FoxHollow Technologies, helping to architect the strategy and commercial infrastructure that led to a successful IPO and subsequent acquisition by ev3/Covidien. Leslie’s management experience also includes senior leadership positions at Cytyc Corporation and breast cancer diagnostics company Pro-Duct Health, Inc., which was acquired by Cytyc. She began her medical device career at Guidant Corporation in new product global marketing. In addition to her role at Outset, Leslie is also a board member of Cardiovascular Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CSII). She received her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and her MBA from the Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley.
